The Stormonth Way
The Stormonth Way is a system of Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS), a philosophy supporting positive behavior by teaching, reinforcing and acknowledging specific expectations within our Stormonth community.
The Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports program is based upon a philosophy of recognizing positive contributions of students. Our goal is to help each child develop self discipline.
The home and school share the responsibility for developing good citizens. Parents, teachers and students must work together to maintain a safe working enviornment.
As part of PBIS, teachers, administrators, counselors and support staff will have the responsibility to reach positive behavior expectations to students. PBIS means that students will know exactly what is expected of them. Students who take responsibility to behave according to the Stormonth Way will be recognized and rewarded in a variety of ways.
The Stormonth Way Mission Statement:
-
Create a respectful, responsible and safe learning community for all.
-
Develop a common language which is universally implemented.
-
Teach and reinforce clear and consistent behavioral expectations.
-
Create a community in which students, staff and family all feel a sense of ownership and pride.
In short, the philosophy of PBIS encourages us to say things like, “At Stormonth, we walk in the halls” instead of, “Don’t run!”.
The Stormonth Way:
At Stormonth, we are Respectful, Responsible, and Safe
Respectful:
Showing kindness, care and consideration towards others and their abilities, qualities and achievements.
Responsible:
Making good choices for yourself and others; being accountable for your choices.
Safe:
Being aware of my words and actions and how they affect my safety and the safety of those around me.
The Stormonth Pledge
The Stormonth Pledge is read on morning announcements, and recited by students as a daily reminder of our school expectations.
“I am a Super Stormonth Student. I am respectful and show kindness toward others. I am responsible and make good choices for myself. I am safe and understand how my actions affect others. I pledge to do my best at all times.”
