ELA:
In first grade, we use the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project Units of Study for our reading, writing, and phonics curriculum. Phonemic awareness is supported by daily read-aloud, poetry, and the use of a systematic scope and sequence of skills with explicit modeling through frequent lessons from the Michael Heggerty curriculum.

Science:
First graders develop as scientists through our primary curriculum resource Foss Next Generation. Our three modules are: Air and Weather, Sound and Light, and Plants and Animals.

Learn to use light sources and materials to create and change shadows.
