Attendance and Absence Report Procedures
It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to report all student absences to the Attendance Office prior to 8:45 a.m. at 414-247-4225, stating the reason for the absence and the probable duration. If we do not receive a call reporting the absence, the school will attempt to call the parent or guardian at home or place of employment. This procedure is necessary to verify that the student is safe. Please refer to the Bayside Middle School Handbook if you have any questions. For the District Policy #5200 regarding attendance, please click here.
Parents whose children may be hospitalized or absent due to prolonged illness for more than thirty days are encouraged to contact the principal to discuss the need for homebound instruction.
If your child arrives late or leaves early, it is essential that they check in and out of the school office, as well as the attendance/health office, so that our records are accurate.
Arrival and Dismissal
Arrival time for students is from 8:05 to 8:13 a.m. All students should be dropped off at the northeast entrance. Students must remain in a designated inside or outside area until the bell rings at 8:13 a.m. All students will be marked tardy if they are not in their assigned first hour when the 8:20 a.m. bell rings. The northeast entrance will have adult supervision beginning at 8:05 a.m. Please do not have your children arrive before 8:05 a.m. Parking is not permitted in the entrance zones at any time. Parents who wish to enter the school must use the parking lots adjacent to the north and south entrances.
Students riding bikes are to park their bikes and lock them to the bike racks located on the northwest side of the building. The school district is not responsible for any losses or damages incurred to the bikes.
Dismissal will occur at 3:30 p.m. Students will be dismissed from their last period class. All students must be picked by 3:40 p.m. Students will not be supervised after 3:40 p.m.
Students departing by car must be picked up at the northeast entrance. No traffic is permitted in the bus loading area. Students leaving school prior to the regular dismissal time must check themselves out at the health and attendance office.
Dismissal during the school day
A note from home is required prior to dismissing a child for a part of a day for such things as medical appointments, etc. We encourage these appointments be made outside of the instructional school day whenever possible.
* Note: When you see the word parents it refers to parent(s) and/or legal guardian(s) of a student.
