Teaching, Learning and Student Services
The Department of Teaching and Learning guides the development of curriculum, the assessment of student learning, and the support of effective instruction throughout the district for all students. Standards define what we want students to know and be able to do. It addresses content as well as skills and dispositions that we want students to develop by the time they leave a course, a grade level, or our K-8 educational program.
Teaching focuses on guiding and instructing students to successfully address the standards and the benchmarks.
Learning emphasizes what students know and are independently able to do successfully.
Assessment emphasizes providing different ways for students to demonstrate mastery. Assessment results drive teaching and learning.
The Fox Point - Bayside School District offers a wide range of programs designed to support students who may need additional time, different instruction, modifications, and/or extensions to ensure they continue to grow and reach their potential.
English Language Learners: Many languages are represented in our school district. Students who are identified as needing English language development are supported in their regular classroom.
Special Education: The district serves the needs of students with disabilities who require an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and students who are supported through a Section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act plan.
Talent Development Services: Fox Point Bayside School District strives to recognize and support the growth of students who have demonstrated their capabilities in areas ranging from academic, intellectual, creative, leadership, and visual/performing arts that transcend the universal curriculum.
