Teaching, Learning and Student Services
The office of Teaching, Learning and Special Programs is charged with the development of curriculum, the assessment of student learning, and the support of effective instruction throughout the district for all students. Curriculum defines what we want students to know and be able to do. It addresses content as well as skills and attitudes that we want students to develop by the time they leave a course, a grade level, or our K-8 educational program.
Teaching focuses on guiding students to successfully address the standards and the benchmarks. The emphasis in the district is 21st century skill development using research-based best practices.
Learning emphasizes what students know and are independently able to do successfully.
Assessment emphasizes providing different ways for students to demonstrate mastery. Assessment results drive teaching and learning.
The Fox Point - Bayside School District offers a wide range of programs designed to support students who may need additional time, different instruction, modifications, and/or extensions to ensure they continue to grow in their learning.
English Language Learners: Many languages are represented in our school district. Students who are identified as needing English language support are successfully supported in their regular classroom.
Special Education: The district serves the needs of students with disabilities who require an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and students who are supported through a Section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act plan.
Talent Development Services: strive to recognize and support the growth of students who have demonstrated their capabilities in areas ranging from academic, intellectual, creative, and/or leadership transcend the universal curriculum.
